The TTSC Model encompasses years of experimentation and practice that began at Portland State University, where I was pursuing my Master's degree and had the opportunity to apply diverse theater practices to teaching Spanish at the intermediate level. This was followed by a year of practice at Northwest Academy. At this arts-focused school, I taught various language and literature seminars, and the students studied, adapted, and performed for the public.

Currently, as part of my PhD program at the University of Calgary and as I complete my thesis project, I am documenting the findings and discoveries of these practices that I have developed. For that, I visited three different literature courses at three universities: Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, USA; the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, CA; and MacEwan University in Edmonton, CA. The participants, post-secondary students, answered a survey and shared some of their writing material to be analyzed. The following image illustrates some of the main tasks undertaken by the students, accompanied by a brief explanation of their execution.
